I’m a registered midwife in the State of Colorado and I’ve been attending to women in childbirth both as a doula in the hospital since 1999, and as a clinical care provider in the home birth setting since 2010. In that time, I’ve developed a deep passion for working with my clients through their traumatic birth experiences. Did you know that 40% of women describe their birth as traumatic? And I’ve found that many more don’t identify with the word trauma, but still have intense and unresolved feelings around their birth! Sometimes it is simply the intensity of the process and how that has affected their body and life, sometimes it is much more than that! Through years of hearing stories I have been motivated to learn more about trauma. In 2018 I achieved the certificate of Certified Trauma Professional through PESI. By blending the clinical knowledge of birth with my training in trauma care, I’ve written a program that aims to clear trauma and bad feelings around one’s birth and open the door to healing! I am not a therapist and this program is not designed to be therapy or a substitute for therapy for those in need.
